SunTec India, a leading provider of ePublishing and eBook conversion services, successfully digitized more than 3500 backlist titles from a huge collection of a US-based university press, converting them into different eBook formats such as print PDF, EPUB and MOBI. The digital wing of SunTec India is pleased to announce the successful completion of digitization of more than 3000 books for a German-based library into both reflowable as well as fixed layout eBook format depending on the material of the book, making it easier for the global audience to access and read the books.
"We are more than glad that we have completed the first round of digitization and online publication of German Books, which helps our client reach out to the global audience, especially those who are finding it difficult to spare time to visit the library to read the books", said Mr. Sugeet Wahal, VP, Digital Content Conversion Division, SunTec. "We will soon begin with the next stage of the project comprising over 768 German titles in various translations in English and other European languages. On the whole, this phase of eBook development covers more than 2,220 items and 1, 50,000 pages pertaining to a variety of subject areas, right from the history, literature and politics to natural sciences, engineering and technology to children's literature", he further added.
As many of the books were published a long time ago and were old, the client wanted us to deliver clean scanned books sans spots and stains that a reader might find unpleasant. Concerned about data security, the client also wanted us to safeguard the contents against unauthorized copying, using DRM solutions.
Despite the challenging task to digitize the old books within restricted deadline while ensuring readability and improved image viewing experience across various eBook readers, experts at SunTec scanned and converted every title into prescribed eBook format with complete accuracy. We illustrated complex content like graphs, tables and charts almost as neatly as they appear in the printed versions and ensured that the readers can easily view images, tables, charts, and graphs on all the major eReaders such as Kindle, Barnes & Noble's Nook, Apple, Google, Kobo and Android devices.

SunTec Digital today announced that it has completed the eBooks conversion project for a leading K12 education institution, based in the USA. The project, aimed at creating interactive K12 eBooks, encompassed converting 3500+ educational titles into eBook formats, both re-flowable and fixed layout.

SunTec Digital, the dedicated ePublishing wing of SunTec India, recently supported an Australia-based Public Library in creating a digital collection of newspaper archives from 1990 to 2010 in less than four months. The project was aimed at helping the client save storage space, boost productivity and reduce maintenance costs, while making it easy for the readers to access and retrieve newspapers.
Our team of 15 professionals digitized entire newspapers of 20 years, approximately equal to 1, 50,000 pages and achieved text accuracy of 99.95%. We used high-speed, high volume document scanners to scan and produce 300 DPI grayscale images. We also split dual images into individual newspaper images, crop borders, de-skewed and de-speckled the images to make sure that they are clean and attractive.
"We used state-of-the-art technology to deftly scan and digitize newspapers, which was otherwise a challenging task. We delivered the multi-page searchable files per newspaper issue named by the year, month, and date of publication, making it easy for the users to access them from any location and any year," said Mr. Sugeet Wahal, Vice President, Digital Content Conversion Division at SunTec India.
The text was also encoded to XML as per the client-specified DTD to ensure easy online accessibility and search capability.

In the initial phase of the conversion Service, SunTec Digital converted seven books in Read Aloud eBook format – perfect for kids' story books – as young readers can see the words highlighted when it is pronounced.
